Privacy Policy

Privacy Notice to Customers

 

This policy applies to Union Bank, and its subsidiaries (i.e. UB Financial Services and Union Bank Mortgage Company) and is disclosed to all retail customers initially and annually in compliance with the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act.

 

Introduction

 

At Union Bank, the basis of each customer relationship is trust.  You have chosen to do business with Union Bank, and we are obligated to honor that relationship with great care, beginning with the information you have chosen to share with us.  We believe that your privacy should not be compromised.  At the same time, we want to offer you the array of financial products and services you need to accomplish your financial goals.  We believe we can do both with the Privacy Policy outlined below.

 

Recognition of a Customer’s Expectation of Privacy

 

Union Bank and its subsidiaries and employees recognize that you have a right to expect your nonpublic personal information to remain private and secure.  We will maintain standards to ensure the integrity and privacy of such information at all times.

 

What Information We Collect

 

We collect, retain, and use information about your experiences and transactions with us only where we reasonably believe that it will be useful (and allowed by law) to help administer our business or provide products, services and other opportunities for you.  Some examples of such information include:

 

q       Application information such as name, address, social security number, assets or income;

q       Information about your transactions with us or our subsidiaries or affiliates such as your account balance, payment history, or account usage;

q       Credit information from a consumer reporting agency such as credit worthiness or credit history.

 

Information we collect, may come from the following sources:

 

q       Information you provide to us on applications or other forms;

q       Information about your transactions with us, our subsidiaries, affiliates or others, and;

q       Information from others, such as credit bureaus, real estate appraisers, and employers.

 

Maintenance of Accurate Information

 

We have established procedures so that a customer’s financial information is accurate, current and complete in accordance with reasonable commercial standards.  We will  respond to requests to make corrections within three (3) business days.  If for some reason we cannot resolve your request within three days, Union Bank will notify you of the time period in which your correction will be made.

 

Limiting Employee Access to Information

 

We will limit employee access to nonpublic personal information to those with a business reason for knowing such information.  We continuously educate our employees so they understand the importance of confidentiality and customer privacy.  Our employees are held to an Employee Code of Ethics and understand that disciplinary measures are enforced in order to uphold Union Bank’s integrity.

 

Protection of Information via Established Security Procedures

 

All of our operational and data processing systems are in a secure environment that protects your account information from being accessed by third parties. We maintain and grant access to customer information only in accordance with our internal security standards.

 

Restrictions on the Disclosure of Account Information

 

We do not reveal specific information about customer accounts or other personally identifiable data to unaffiliated third parties for their independent use unless (1) our customer has requested it; (2) the information is provided to help complete a transaction initiated by our customers; (3) the information is provided to a reputable credit bureau or similar information reporting agency; or (4) disclosure is lawfully permitted or required; for example, in connection with legal matters; or (5) the customer has been informed about the possibility of such disclosure for marketing or similar purposes through a prior communication and is given the opportunity to decline (i.e. “opt out”).  If you should decide to close your account(s) or become an inactive customer, we will continue to adhere to the privacy principles outlined in this policy.

 

Service Providers and Joint Marketing Agreements

 

Union Bank is permitted under law to provide limited personal information to nonaffiliated third parties for the purpose of marketing a product on our behalf or to other financial institutions with which we have joint marketing agreements. The information we may share includes that described in "What Information We Collect" above. Any such third party must adhere to similar privacy principles, and is contractually obligated to keep such information confidential. Union Bank does not sell customer information.  We share information, as described above, only when required by law, when it is necessary to service or manage your account with us, or to provide you with a financial product or service.

What Customers Can Do

Protect your account numbers, personal identification numbers (PIN's) and other passwords.  Never keep your PIN with your ATM, debit or credit cards.  Use caution in revealing account numbers, balances or other personal information such as your social security number to other persons, including over the telephone.  Manage your personal files carefully so that your bank statement or other pertinent information does not fall into the wrong hands. Contact us immediately if you should lose any ATM, debit or credit card or a checkbook or savings account book and notify us as soon as possible if your address or telephone number changes.
